THEORIES OF PERSONALITY AND SUCCESS IN SPORT

Abstract:
This article aims to analyze how the various theories about personality in general, and the personality of athletes, in particular, refer to the relationship between personality structure and success achievement. As is known, there are a number of factors that influence human personality structure: the individual's genetic inheritance, the nature of the situation and experience. From this perspective, to study the relationship between personality and sports, we grouped the theories of personality into two broad categories: trait theories where personality is influenced by a number of traits; situational and interactional theories and which highlights the importance of the situation for the response offered by the human personality. Finally, we reviewed a set of factors - mediators of personality change, because the practice of physical education and sport.
